New to church?

It can be daunting if you’ve never been to Church, to make it easier, this page provides simple answers to questions you may have;

What services can I attend and what times are they?

There are two main services every Sunday at 10:30am and 6:30pm.  The service lasts about an hour and ten minutes.

You are welcome to come to both or just one, whatever you decide we would be happy to see you!

We also have a midweek prayer meeting and bible study that normally takes place in a smaller building adjacent to the main church every Wednesday at 7:30pm.

There are a number of other meetings/events throughout the week for women, parents and toddlers and young people, more details regarding these can be found here.

What should I wear?

Whatever you are comfortable in!  When you attend our church you will find a really diverse group of people, if you’re happier in jeans and tee shirt or shirt and tie, we don’t mind.

Where should I sit?

There are no reserved seats.  Please sit wherever you wish and don’t be frightened about sitting next to someone…we are a friendly bunch!

What can I expect during the service?

When you arrive you will find song books and Bibles available in the lobby, if you don’t have a Bible of your own! Large print text is also available.

If you are not sure where to go or what to do speak to an usher, there is usually one waiting in the lobby.

The structure of the main Sunday services is generally as follows;

  • We sing songs including hymns and choruses
  • There is a short time of prayer, led by our Pastor
  • We have a reading from the Bible
  • The Bible reading is then explained, commonly referred to as preaching/teaching
  • Followed by  a short closing prayer

After the service tea, coffee, juice and biscuits are available and if you want you can stay for a bit just to chat.

Can I bring my children and is there anything for them to do?

Yes, there is a Sunday School available during the Sunday morning service for children from 3 years old.

Children normally sit in the front three rows with the Sunday school teachers and after the second song go to an adjacent building where they sing songs, enjoy Bible stories and do arts and crafts.  If your child would prefer to remain with you in the service, that’s absolutely fine too.

Children can be picked up from the Sunday School room after the main service.

We also have a creche room where parents with small children can hear and see the service while children play.

Will I be expected to give money to the church?

No, a collection is taken during the Sunday services but there is no expectation on anyone to give.  Please don’t worry about allowing the collection bag to pass by.

The reason we take a collection is for regular attenders who want to support the work.  We don’t want anyone to feel under pressure or obligation to give.
